What one pitch can do

One pitch. A national stage.

“Troy Sawyer, a nonprofit founder, landed on The Kelly Clarkson Show after one pitch we wrote together. That single interview brought national attention and a wave of funding interest to Girls Play Trumpet Too.”
Casey Ferrand McGee, describing her work with a client

Who this is for

You have a story. It hasn't been framed yet.

Founders, nonprofit leaders, executives and experts who keep hearing “you should be on TV” and have no idea what to send, or to whom. If you've written a pitch and never sent it, or sent one and heard nothing back, this is the fix.

  • You want media coverage that leads to clients, funding, or a platform, not just a screenshot.
  • You're willing to show up live for two afternoons and do the work in the room.
  • You'd rather learn the method once than pay a PR firm every month to guess for you.

How the two days work

Day 1 is Position. Day 2 is Pitch.

Two hours each day, live, with Casey working on your material with you. Bring your bio as it reads today and one story idea, even a rough one.

Day 1 · Wednesday, October 28

Position: find the angle a journalist needs

  • The difference between your story and your news hook, and why editors only care about one of them.
  • The 3-point message map you'll use in every interview, panel and post.
  • Rewrite your bio live so it reads like a source, not a résumé.

Day 2 · Thursday, October 29

Pitch: write the email and know where to send it

  • The pitch structure one of Casey's clients used to land six placements in her first week.
  • Subject lines that get opened, and the two lines that get a reply.
  • Who to send it to first, and what to do when the answer is no.

A sharper angle changes the pitch.

Before

Interview request

Hi, my name is Dana Reyes and I am the founder and CEO of Bright Path Tutoring, a company I started in 2019 after many years in education. We offer personalized tutoring for students of all ages and have helped hundreds of families. I am passionate about learning and I believe your viewers would really enjoy hearing my story. I have been featured on a few podcasts and I am very comfortable on camera. I would love the opportunity to come on your show and talk about Bright Path and everything we do. Please let me know if you are interested. I have attached my bio and some photos. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

After

Report cards drop Friday. Here's what parents should do this weekend

Hi Jordan,

First-quarter report cards go out across the district this Friday, and the question I get every year is the same: my kid got a C, is it too late? It isn't, and there are three things a parent can do this weekend that change the second quarter.

I'm Dana Reyes, a former middle school teacher who runs Bright Path Tutoring. I can walk viewers through the three steps in under four minutes, with a real (anonymized) example from a family I worked with last fall.

I'm available Thursday or Friday morning, in studio or on Zoom. Happy to send talking points.

Dana

The rewrite leads with a dated hook the audience cares about and tells the producer exactly what the segment is, instead of asking for airtime to talk about the business.

What you leave with

Not notes. A pitch.

By the end of Day 2 you will have:

  • Two media pitches, written in the room, ready to send.
  • Your positioning statement and key talking points.
  • A media-ready bio and a 3-point message map.
  • Two or three angles matched to your industry, so the second and third pitches are faster than the first.
  • The workbook, the replay of both days, and your copy of Leverage YOU.

You'll have the words ready to send a reporter on Monday.

“The biggest takeaway is the need to break down what the offering is in a line, or twenty seconds or less. That's an art in itself.”

Questions

Before you decide

What if I don't have a story yet?

Bring one rough idea and your bio as it reads today. Day 1 is about finding the angle a journalist needs, so you don't need to arrive with a polished story or a finished pitch.

I'm not a founder. Is this still for me?

Yes. The bootcamp is also for nonprofit leaders, executives and experts who want to turn their experience into a clear story they can pitch to the media.

What happens if I miss a day?

You get the replay of both days and the workbook. If you need to move to the next date, let us know before Day 1 so your seat can roll over.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes. The free masterclass runs live every Tuesday at 7 PM ET and covers the method the bootcamp puts into practice. Register here, and if it clicks, come back for the next bootcamp.

Is this the same as the free masterclass?

The bootcamp is a two-day working session focused on your own material. You'll work on your angle and bio on Day 1, then write your pitch on Day 2 with Casey's guidance.

What is the pitch review?

It's an optional private 30-minute session with Casey after Day 2 to review your pitch. You can add it at checkout for $300. The two-day bootcamp is $97 without the private review.

How do I reach a human?

Text 504-318-5024 with your question about the bootcamp.

In two working sessions, you'll have a pitch worth sending.
